  • Juventus is reportedly set to acquire the services of Vlahovic
  • Fiorentina loses grip on the Serbian striker, who is under contract until 2023
  • Tottenham and Liverpool are forced to look at other options

Dusan Vlahovic initially appeared bent on staying with ACF Fiorentina following reports that multiple clubs are after his signature.

But recent updates claim that the Serbian striker had made a decision and may not be staying at Stadio Artemio Franchi for long.

Outlet ViolaNews claims that the 21-year-old Belgian will snub English Premier League teams such as Liverpool and Tottenham, and commit to Juventus.

The development is a big blow to the Reds and Spurs who were already vying for the Serbian’s signature.

They also had to contend with other teams such as Newcastle United, another team expected to make a big splurge in the next transfer window.

The interest in Vlahovic is understandable. With Fiorentina, he has scored a total of 35 goals–clearly showing how familiar he is with the Serie A style of play.

Football Italia also reported that the Serbian striker has already reached an agreement with Fiorentina and the move to Juve is inevitable.

He would follow in the footsteps of Federico Chiesa, who also turned down an offer from Liverpool to move to Juventus.

This development comes not long after it was reported that Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone confirmed that the Serbian will stay with the team in a previous report here on International Business Times

But a curious part of that report was the fact that Vlahovic’s contract is set to expire in June 2023.

Although it is still a long way off, I Viola needed to make its move this early.

There were allegedly plans to hold contract extension talks with Vlahovic, but it appears all that has now been snuffed.

Aside from Liverpool, Tottenham and Juventus, other teams linked to the Serbian include Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.

With Vlahovic potentially out of reach, all Tottenham and Liverpool can do now is skim the market for other potential targets.

Tottenham is looking to add another scorer, a move to either help or replace Harry Kane.

The Reds, on the other hand, are looking to add more firepower to their already-formidable frontline unit.
