  • Real Madrid is looking to bolster their defensive matrix by enlisting Marcos Senesi
  • West Ham is singled out as a team in serious pursuit of the Argentine defender’s services
  • Multiple teams are linked to Senesi, leaving the Argentine with plenty of options

Real Madrid plans to ramp up the defensive side of things by locking their sights to acquire Marcos Senesi of Feyenoord.

This was reported by The Athletic, revealing how Los Blancos will be crowding long-time pursuer West Ham United for the signature of the 24-year-old footballer.

Since signing with San Lorenzo in 2019, the Argentine defender has emerged as one of the best defenders in Dutch football.

Senesi is known for his intense style of play, a reason why has been nicknamed “The Gladiator.”

However, the efficiency of the center-back is not limited to defense.

Aside from being known as an aggressive defender, Senesi has also proven to be a good passer that makes him an ideal two-way player that Los Blancos would love to procure.

But for Real Madrid to successfully pluck Senesi from De Kuip, there is the price tag that comes along with it.

He is valued at around £17 million ($23 million) which pundits consider a bargain given his talent.

Senesi’s current contract does not expire until 2023, but a move to a big club either in the English Premier League or La Liga is seen as a good step forward for the Argentine player.

However, it should be noted that Real Madrid is not the only one in the chase for Senesi’s signature.

West Ham United had its eyes on the said footballer as early as December 2021 and looms as a potential signing this January transfer window.

The Hammers, like Real Madrid, are looking to boost their defensive end with injuries to key players.

Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma are sidelined with respective injuries, forcing the hand of the Hammers to look for able reinforcements.

Zouma is reportedly ahead of schedule in recovery but may not be back before February.

Even if the French defender does return, he is unlikely to carve out a good performance once he takes the pitch.

The Hammers and Los Blancos also have to keep tabs with other teams who have Senesi on their radar.

Among the teams linked to “The Gladiator” include Tottenham, Manchester United, Leeds, Newcastle and Aston Villa per TBR.
