Loyal fans of the “Friends” TV show were psyched when Jennifer Aniston and the rest of the cast announced their plans to an epic reunion. However, sources are claiming Brad Pitt may be responsible for bringing the reunion to life.

During the 2020 SAG awards, Pitt and Aniston reunited publically for the first since their 2005 split. The former spouses shared a sweet moment in front of the cameras which came after comments in which the stars referred to one another as friends.

Following reports of their rekindled friendship, insiders told Closer Magazine that Aniston asked Pitt for advice before she agreed to the “Friends” reunion.

“After reuniting with Brad at her birthday last year, she asked him for advice. He said he thought it would be a great idea to honor their success, and that fans still hold the show in such high regard,” an alleged insider told the publication.

Pitt reportedly told Aniston that he believed she had reached a point in her career, in which she would benefit from a reunion with her former co-stars. “He told her it feels like the right time to get back together and encouraged her change of heart,” the supposed source claimed.

“He advised her to say ‘yes’ when everyone got together in October to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary,” the tipster added.

When Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer reunite at the original “Friends” soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank, it won’t be to reprise their iconic roles.

The return of the cast will happen in the form of an unscripted reunion special that is set to help launch the streaming platform HBO Max.

“We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot,” Co-creator and executive producer Marta Kauffman said in September at the Tribeca TV Festival.

“The show was about that time in life when friends are your family,” she added.

Kauffman went on to explain that as time pass, life changes when your family becomes your family.

HBO Max is expected to launch in May along with the “Friends” reunion special.
