Fashion designer Gucci has unveiled a pair of jeans that Twitter has dubbed “ridiculous.” The jeans have grass stains embedded into the denim as part of a distressed look from its Fall/Winter 2020 collection.

The company said the jeans were inspired by a “grunge vibe” and are made from a light blue, eco-washed, organic cotton that has been treated for a “stained-like, distressed effect.” The jeans also don’t use any chemicals, pesticides, or artificial fertilizers in the fabric design.

On its website, Gucci said the jeans are a “new takes on the cult fabric, reinterpreting it with different designs and washing techniques that blur the line between vintage and contemporary. All organic cotton leftovers from the cutting process for this product are then upcycled into new materials under the 'Gucci Up' program. Pieces with versatile ways to wear and style embrace each person who is part of the House’s individual spirit.”

The jeans feature front-slash pockets, back patch pockets, button and zip enclosures, a vintage label, and low-waist and wide-leg style. The jeans are made in Italy and retail for $770 per pair.

Twitter users had plenty to say about the denim and were quick to criticize the jeans’ style. One user said, “Gucci rlly coming out w grass stained jeans like i can’t go outside rn and make my own.”

Another user said, “$800 for jeans with fake grass stains! I’m in the wrong damn business.”

Yet another said, “Gucci lost their damn mind. $770 for grass stained jeans ? FOH @gucci.”

The jeans were also accompanied by a pair of overalls that have the same grass-stained look to them. The overalls sell for $1,400.
