Meghan Markle's outfit at Global Citizen Live received criticisms from some of the netizens because they felt that it was inappropriate.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew to New York City last week and joined the Global Citizen Live festival in Central Park Saturday. Markle showed up with Prince Harry at the event wearing a $4,500 white dress by Valentino. She paired the San Gallo Couture mini dress with a $16,500 set of Cartier earrings, a $12,000 Cartier watch and a $6,900 Cartier "love" bracelet, Daily Mail reported.

However, many were not happy with her ensemble. Several criticized the duchess online for her choice of outfit.

"Talking about equality, while wearing expensive designer dresses and jewelry worth nearly 500,000 dollars, staying in a hotel for 1,300 dollars per night, flying with a private jet from Cali worth thousands, having security like a world leader," one commented adding a face with rolling eyes emoji.

"There is so much glitz about everything they do, it’s so false! I still want to know just who is paying for the security for these two Hypocrites, gas guzzling cars, private jets, preaching at the World, what qualifies them to be world leaders? They are dangerous !!!" another added.

"She visits a school in a less affluent part of the City wearing clothing and jewelry the value of which was most likely in excess of the wages some of those children's parents will earn in a year. She needs to stop flaunting her wealth, learn to be self-aware and show humility," a third user commented.

Meanwhile, many also defended the duchess. The couple's supporters felt that Markle has been targeted by trolls and they do not seem to see anything good in what she does.

"What does her outfit have to do with anything? When is the hate train on this woman coming to a halt?" one asked.

"Would you have wanted her to show up in rags ?" another asked.

"Lol y’all are obsessed," a third netizen wrote.

Meanwhile, another user pointed out the double standards between Markle and Kate Middleton. The netizen said the media coverage would have been different if it was the Duchess of Cambridge who wore the same outfit.

"If it was Kate you’d rephrase it as Kate looks radiant in £4,500 dress," the online user wrote.
