Police in South Carolina on Tuesday announced they have arrested two people after finding the body of a 13-year-old child with special needs dead in a car Monday night.

First responders in Colleton County, South Carolina, were called out to check a seemingly abandoned car near the Low Country Highway. Once they arrived, they noticed the body of a child in the car that was unresponsive to the officers around the car. After getting into the car, it was quickly determined that the child was deceased.

The Colleton County Sheriff's Office announced the discovery in a press release Monday evening. Not long after discovering the child’s body, police were able to zero in on two potential suspects in the child’s death.

Rita Pangalangan, 49, and Larry King, 41, were both arrested in relation to the child’s death. The actual charges still haven’t been announced.

After being booked at the Sheriff’s office, Pangalangan and King were transported to the nearby Colleton County Detention Center in Walterboro.

It hasn’t been announced if the pair have retained the services of attorneys and no bond hearing has been set yet.
