  • Tyson Fury finally responds to Dillian Whyte's repeated callouts
  • "The Gypsy King" hopes that Whyte is not simply looking for a payday in the potential fight
  • Whyte is set to enter the ring three weeks after Fury and Wilder's October 9th trilogy fight

British boxing champion Tyson Fury has had enough of fellow countryman Dillian Whyte’s callouts and has decided to respond with a challenge for December of this year.

“We’re gonna deliver a UK fight,” Fury told BT Sport Boxing, via Boxing Insider. “It’s been a long time since I boxed here. Who better than this guy who keeps calling for it? I’ll shut that bum right up, that’ll be an easy one. That’s definitely gonna happen, I’m gonna splatter him.”

As has been the problem in the boxing scene for quite some time, Fury wishes that Whyte is not simply looking for a big payday.

“Let’s hope he doesn’t start asking for stupid money. If he asks for stupid money, he [does not] want the fight,” said the British standout.

Fury was slated to face American Deontay Wilder on July 24, but his camp had to deal with an outbreak of COVID-19 and their trilogy fight was rescheduled to October 9.

While many believe that Wilder has improved his fighting skill to match that of Fury’s, “The Gypsy King” remains adamant that he will defeat him easily, similar to their second meeting in which he knocked the American out in the seventh round.

Fighting Wilder will end the WBC and Ring Magazine champion’s year and a half long drought of inactivity but Fury is already looking through Wilder.

Whyte has been very vocal in the past about wanting to fight Fury, going so far as to call the multiple-time champion "a coward" back in June of 2020.

The fight between the two British men could become a problem on Whyte’s end, however.

Whyte is set to make his in-ring return on October 30th against a yet-to-be-named opponent as he defends his WBC interim heavyweight title.

Rumors indicate that Whyte will be facing former heavyweight title contender Chris Arreola of the United States.

According to Whyte’s longtime promoter Eddie Hearn, there are other names on the waiting list such as Jermaine Franklin, but Arreola is currently in the lead to step in the ring with the Brit.

Should both men be able to put away their next opponents with ease and leave their fights relatively unscathed, a fight between Whyte and Fury could be possible towards the backend of December.
