Before their upcoming bout in July, UFC lightheavyweight Thiago Santos is seeking to upset light heavyweight champion Jon Jones as he vows to "put the pressure" on the so-called "G.O.A.T."

UFC light heavyweight contender Santos just sent an intense and powerful message to Jones on his social media account. Santos’ post was crystal clear, indicating that he will "put the pressure" on Jones as soon as they finally meet inside the octagon, MMA Mania reported.

Although Santos’ message seems to be very provocative, it has been known that this was only a powerful respond to Jones’ earlier statement in which the champ kind of "reminded" the public that despite Santos’ impressive knockout skills, he too is possible to drop as well.

At some point during one of UFC’s press conferences, Jones did mention something about Santos’ fighting style and that despite being a knockout artist, the Brazilian native can get "dropped" too, MMA Mania noted.

Santos is widely considered as an underdog against a long-time champion Jones, but the UFC gave the 35-year-old mixed martial artist a shot after being convinced by Santos’ three consecutive knockout wins in their respective division.

Jones, on the other hand, is still one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, and to some, the current UFC light heavyweight champ is considered the "G.O.A.T." of MMA. The 31-year-old MMA superstar has been involved in multiple controversies but still managed to maintain his superb fighting skill. Jones remains undefeated for over nine straight years.

The current light heavyweight division is stacked with talented and impressive fighters. Just yesterday, former UFC light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson and UFC’s rising star Anthony Smith clashed inside the octagon. Smith submitted Gus via rear-naked choke and hopes that his performance may be enough for UFC to grant him a rematch with Jones.

UFC 239 is headlined by the Jones vs. Santos fight, which is one of the most anticipated bouts of the year as both fighters are coming off of impressive winning streaks. Santos viciously knocked out two of UFC light heavyweight’s top contenders Jan Blachowicz and Jimi Manuwa, while Jones just defeated Anthony Smith in a five-round battle and finished Gustafsson via technical knockout due to punches.

Jones had a clean winning streak, but technically, his latest win against UFC heavyweight champion and former two-division champion Daniel Cormier was overturned to a no contest.

The much awaited UFC event will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 6.
