  • Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington had an intense UFC 272 pre-fight presser

Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal have finally met each other for the first time as rivals.

Things went down exactly as expected at UFC 272 pre-fight press conference as Covington and Masvidal spent almost the entire time engaging in heated exchanges.

The two UFC welterweight contenders are set to take on each other inside the Octagon on Saturday, March 5 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As they edge closer to the bout, “Chaos” and “Gambred” proved to live fans and media that their feud is as real as it gets.

UFC president Dana White and event security had to keep the fighters away from one another the entire event.

There had been a lot of trash-talking, and Masvidal thought about throwing a bottle of energy drink at Covington at one point.

White reiterated in the presser that some might think the pair was only doing this for publicity, but it’s definitely real.

“Well, if anybody doesn’t think that these two [Masvidal and Covington] might do something here today, you are out of your f------ mind,” White said alongside event security and local police on the stage. “That’s why we have everybody up here.”

“This is real,” he added.

UFC 272 has become a highly-anticipated event given the drama it entails as Covington and Masvidal used to be best of friends and even lived together in the same room a couple of years ago.

However, things fell apart over time and they ended up being bitter rivals.

In their earlier interviews, the former UFC welterweight title contenders both confirmed that their beef will not end inside the octagon.

Covington insisted that he’s not burying the hatchet with Masvidal and he’ll be happy to beat him up when they cross paths anywhere in Miami.

“The city isn’t big enough for both of us,” Covington stressed. “If I see him in Miami, he’s getting dropped on his head. He doesn’t even train in Miami, he’s from Broward County and trains in Coconut Creek, Florida. I’m from Miami and train there.”

“I’m in the heart of Miami, and I’m the king of Miami and I’m going to prove it Saturday night."

Masvidal, meanwhile, is feeling the same way as he did not appreciate Covington’s way of trying to drag his family into it.

“If someone’s making fun of me, no hard feelings,” Masvidal pointed out. “[Say] whatever you want to say about me, but what do my kids have to do with it exactly? Tell me, because if you think that’s going to strike a nerve or you think that’s going to sell more pay-per-views, whatever it is, it’s a scumbag move. So, the only hatchet I’m burying with Colby is in his f–---- neck.”
