Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has an interesting insight about his win over Israel Adesanya.

The hype of the Jon Jones vs. Israel Adesanya super-fight has toned down a bit after Blachowicz halted “The Last Stylebender’s” undefeated record at UFC 259.

Looking back at his latest accolade, Blachowicz pointed out that he is “happy” to have spoiled the UFC’s big plans for Adesanya.

According to the Blachowicz, he is well aware that the said plan was to make Adesnaya’s case for a Jones fight more convincing by having beaten by the middleweight titleholder. However, things didn’t go as plotted as he managed to walk away with the unanimous decision victory.

“I knew they [the UFC] had some plans with [Israel] Adesanya, they would make the fight with Jon Jones if he beat me,” Blachowicz said Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com. “But, and still, and I destroyed those plans. The victory is a little bit better. The UFC will always need to have a Plan B when they have a big star fight me. ”

“I understand the business,” he continued. “I know he is one of the biggest stars in the UFC. Maybe it would’ve been better for them but I don’t care. For me, it is better I won. I’m happy because I won the fight. That is the most important thing.”

Blachowicz also addressed the possibility of a rematch against Adesanya. For the Polish fighter, he would be glad to give it another go as soon as Adesanya beat a top light heavyweight contender.

“I understand him (Adesanya) because he lost the fight and wants a rematch,” the champ explained. “He has also beaten everyone in his division. Maybe in the future, we do this. [But] first of all, when he comes back to 205, I think he needs to fight someone in the Top 10 and beat them and maybe then we get the rematch.”

As for the Jones vs. Adesanya fight, Adesanya’s head coach Eugene Bareman recently addressed the subject and slammed “Bones” for his history of testing positive for prohibited performance-enhancing drugs.

For Bareman, Blachowicz is the biggest draw in the light heavyweight division “at the moment,” hinting at his desire for a rematch with the champion.

“Once you cheat—Jon Jones is about as irrelevant as T.J. Dillashaw ,” Bareman told Submission Radio. “It’s like, to me, they don’t exist. Is anything that T.J. Dillashaw did in the past relevant now that he’s cheated? No. No. It’s not any different for Jon Jones, so you can’t talk to me about Jon Jones. I have a particular opinion and that isn’t shared by the rest of the world.”

“At the moment the greatest 205er (light heavyweight) is Jan Błachowicz,” he added. “There’s no one else. There’s no one else as great as him.”
