  • Conor McGregor holds UFC records that are unlikely to be broken by any fighter for years
  • McGregor holds the UFC record of fastest KO victory in a title fight
  • 3 McGregor fights are still the higest-earning PPV events in UFC history

Conor McGregor still holds UFC records that are unlikely to be broken by any fighter for a very long time.

After Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey, McGregor emerged as arguably the biggest name in the history of UFC. Some fans may not know, but McGregor has held several records under his name in the UFC before he even involved himself in the record-breaking boxing match against Floyd Mayweather.

Indeed, setting records has become quite a staple for the Irish fighter in each and every fight. In fact, he once again set another record during his successful UFC return against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. Though some of the said records were already exceeded over time, three of them are still in place.

Republic.com recently compiled the 3 UFC records McGregor still holds to date. They are as follows.

"KO/TKO victories across 3 weight classes"

McGregor started his UFC career as a featherweight fighter. During his 145-lb reign, “ Mystic Mac ” knocked out top contenders such as Dustin Poirier, Marcus Brimage, Chad Mendes, and former UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo. He sealed an impressive KO victory in the lightweight division after dismantling Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title at UFC 205. Finally, McGregor completed the feat when he finished veteran welterweight fighter Donald “ Cowboy ” Cerrone in just 40 seconds at UFC 246, making him the only fighter in UFC history to have registered knockout victories across three different weight classes (featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight).

"Fastest KO victory in a title fight"

Back in 2015, UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor was touted as the biggest MMA event of the said year. Fans and pundits expect an interesting fight as it was McGregor ’ s first title fight in the promotion. Nobody was able to predict the fight as Aldo has been the featherweight champ for a long time while McGregor was as promising as he has been.

However, it took only 13 seconds for McGregor to knock Aldo out and have his hand raised. The remarkable victory was earlier billed as the fastest knockout in UFC history but it was eventually broken by Jorge Masvidal’s five-second knockout against Ben Askren. Nevertheless, McGregor’s 13-second knockout victory over Aldo still holds a record for being the fastest title fight KO in UFC history.

"Highest-selling UFC pay-per-views"

Big names come with big paychecks. This has been the case for McGregor ’ s fights in the past five years or so. In fact, the former two-division champ holds three highest-selling PPV events in UFC history. Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor is still UFC ’ s highest-earning PPV event, while McGregor’s two battles with Nate Diaz are at the second and third spot.
