A UFC Hall of Famer lauded President Donald Trump for not being a traditional politician and for caring about the U.S.

It is not everyday that a sports icon shares his thoughts about politics. However, UFC legend Tito Ortiz chose to share his two cents on the president.

In a recent interview with “Fox & Friends,” Ortiz praised President Trump for doing what other presidents have always promised to do. The MMA icon even emphasized that Trump “is not a politician” but a true American who cares about his country, The Washington Times reported.

“This president is doing things that other presidents always promised to do, but he is keeping his promise and I am thankful for it,” Ortiz said.

“He’s not a politician, he’s an American who cares about our country,” he added.

Ortiz also said that he knows many Latino-Americans like him are also supporting Trump. However, Ortiz revealed that the group of supporters is afraid to say their sentiments out loud.

“I walk with a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat — Latinos for Trump, there are so many Latinos that do support Trump, but are afraid to come out and say it. I think it was just blown out of proportion when he spoke about the criminals coming over from Mexico to here,” Ortiz revealed.

Ortiz also said he wants Trump to continue what he has started. He also believes that as days pass by people will see improvements the way he does.

“I think the Democratic Party is showing their side of it, of the criminals they are and the things that they’re being caught for, and I hope Trump continues to focus on that and the people will be able to see it more and more each and every day,” Ortiz noted.

Back in MMA, Ortiz also expressed his thoughts about another president – UFC president Dana White. Last month, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” revealed that White disrespected him and his legacy in UFC’s special documentary highlighting his rivalry with Chuck Liddell.

“I guess there was 19 edits that Dana had to go over. So now its like 10 to 90% to Dana and Chuck and only 10% for me,” Ortiz revealed.

Devastated over what White has done to the scenes, Ortiz even remembered telling the creators, including White himself, that what they were doing was an “assassination of his character.”

“’That was just complete assassination of my character! you guys cannot do that,’” Ortiz recalled.
