An apparent clearer version of what happened during the night when Jorge Masvidal assaulted his UFC nemesis Colby Covington in Miami has emerged.

Masvidal and Covington’s infamous altercation in Miami has been one of the hottest subjects of discussion in the world of mixed martial art (MMA).

However, what exactly went down during the incident is yet to be revealed even to this day.

Bob Menery, a Nelk Boys member who was with Covington when the incident took place, shared his side of the story on Bradley Martyn’s podcast.

According to Menery, everything happened so fast that he did not have enough time to react when he saw Masvidal run up on “Chaos.”

“We get up, we walk out and the thing that pissed me off was we had Chris [Nelk Boys’ security guard] with us and there was just a state of emergency for the shooting going on in South Beach,” Menery detailed.

“Colby was a little (paranoid) and I’m like dude don’t worry we have your back. Chris is here, we should be good, we have guys that watch after us whenever we go anywhere. We walk outside, there is a bunch of fans for Kyle and Nelk, and all of them. We walk outside, Kyle and them are doing their thing and Colby had his own car there and it was parked across the street.”

“Kyle and the boys go in their car and Colby says to roll with me and we take like four steps and all of the sudden out of nowhere it was like ‘duh dah duh,’ so quick. I’m looking there and I’m like what the f--- just happened,” Menery continued. “There were two guys, I know Masvidal just ran up on him unexpectedly. It wasn’t like, ‘yo Colby, what the f--- is up.’ He just ran up on him, I had front row seats."

"I was like oh my God, I didn’t know what to do. It was like ‘duh duh,’ real quick, Colby snuck out of it, ran back in the restaurant and Masvidal came back at him. I was like ‘relax’ and he is like ‘who the f--- just said that and looked at me.’”

In a viral video uploaded moments after the altercation, Covington could be heard asking Menery how Masvidal knew his exact location was. In his defense, the YouTuber said that he didn’t tell anybody, but assumed that “Gamebred” must have learned about it through social media.

However, Menery’s Nelk Boys co-member and podcast co-host Kyle Forgeard had a different take on the matter.

According to Forgeard, he saw Menery “texting Masvidal” before the altercation happened and figured his colleague may have set Covington up.

“Bob Menery actually set Colby up,” Forgeard said MiddleEasy. “So I did see him texting Masvidal while we were at dinner with Colby.”

“So now that I think about it, something really isn’t adding up. So I don’t know. I think Bob set him up.”
