  • Former UFC heavyweight champion revealed talks with WWE
  • Daniel Cormier could take part in Brock Lesnar's wrestling fight
  • Paul Heyman taunted Daniel Cormier

UFC star Daniel Cormier confirmed on Saturday that talks between him and the WWE are in the works.

The 40-year-old former heavyweight champion Cormier revealed on BT Sport that the entertainment company has approached him multiple times already in the past for a possible collaboration, but certain conditions got in the way of the development. But by all present indications, it looks the said partnership is now all systems go.

"I've talked with the WWE on a number of occasions, they want to work together. I almost came to the press conference for Brock vs. Cain to play the role of a fight builder. Unfortunately, my schedule didn't work." Cormier said.

"I got an offer to work that new show, WWE Backstage on [FS1]. Obviously, it didn't work with the new relationship with [UFC and] ESPN. But we are constantly trying to get me involved in the product. As a big-time fan of the WWE, nothing makes me happier. I've got some great opportunities, man. I'm lucky. I've got some things outside of the octagon that's gonna carry me for a long time."

As mentioned, Brock Lesnar is a default add-on to Cormier's crossover to the wrestling entertainment den.

In fact, Raw Executive Vice President Paul Heyman, who is a known Brock Lesnar advocate, quickly jumped into the scene and taunted Cormier, saying Lesnar could dominate the former Olympian both in the Octagon and the wrestling ring. He also said that he could easily destroy Cormier in the trash talk game.

Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar have never faced each other in an official bout. That, however, does not take away any animosity existing between them.

At UFC 226, Lesnar and Cormier have figured in a slight commotion after the 42-year-old wrestler pushed DC moments after the latter defeated Stripe Miocic.

Brock Lesnar re-signing with the WWE has derailed the highly anticipated faceoff with Cormier in the Octagon. But it looks like DC has taken it upon himself, and perhaps the clamored fight could happen in a wrestling card instead.
