  • Conor McGregor appears to be feuding with Daniel Cormier
  • Cormier advises McGregor to focus on fighting than on his commentary work
  • The road to recovery will not be easy for McGregor, says an ex-UFC fighter

Conor McGregor has been known not to back down from anything and anyone.

It appears the latest person he has a beef with is another former UFC champion in Daniel Cormier.

Cormier was doing commentary when McGregor faced Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

The 42-year-old appeared to have hit a nerve when Cormier referred that the Irishman's actions at the event were a sign of a cry for help.

However, Cormier backed that statement and explained that it was not meant to incite any negativity. He feels McGregor took it differently and is now acting like "a misbehaving kid."

“Conor McGregor was mad because I said it was a cry for help his behavior,” Cormier quipped. “That’s really it. I wasn’t being negative when I said that his attention was a cry for help. But I think he took it in that way. And now he’s like, again, like a kid that’s misbehaving,” Cormier said in the interview.

McGregor responded after seeing the interview. Although he was not directly referring to Cormier, it was pretty clear that the now-deleted tweet was for "D.C."

“Your weight and way of life are abysmal. And now drunk at work the day before you commentate a McGregor event? Pitiful. Congrats Jon on his head kick KO anniversary over you. Good always defeats evil? Wasn’t sure you were evil. Fakes,” McGregor’s deleted tweet read.

Beyond the comments, there is reason to believe that McGregor is miffed at Cormier. One is that "D.C." is close friends with his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“The Eagle” was around at UFC 264 and unsurprisingly backed Poirier.

As far as Cormier is concerned, McGregor should focus on other things aside from his commentary.

Right now, the immediate concern of McGregor is to recover from his ankle injury that most feel it would be hard to come back from, yet another possible mental-side issue that may be bugging “The Notorious.”

One former UFC fighter who believes McGregor may no longer be the same is Cung Le.

Appearing on the Sports For All PH podcast hosted by Vincent Juico and Brian Yalung, Le feels the kind of injury that McGregor sustained would be hard to come back from.

“That kind of injury could be hard to come back from and bring back the old Conor. I don’t know. I wish him a safe and healthy recovery but, you know, he’s made enough money. He really doesn’t have to work anymore. If he does, well hopefully come back, I dunno, I don’t see it. I think this fight, it would be tough to come back from that kind of injury to recover from,” Le stated.
