  • Liverpool and Man City are chasing Adama Traore this summer
  • Wolves have labeled Traore at $169 million
  • Traore has scored six goals in the 2019-20 season

Wolves striker Adama Traore, who was termed "unplayable" by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp earlier this season, has been The Reds’ target ahead of the summer transfer window. The latest club that has shown interest in Traore is Manchester City.

It won’t be easy for the top Premier League clubs to get hold of the player as Wolves have labeled him at $169 million. The fee is more than the transfer price of Manchester United’s target Jadon Sancho at Dortmund. Sancho has been the hot property ahead of the summer transfer market and is being chased by several clubs. His transfer fee of $125 million has put off several clubs, but Man Utd are still interested in acquiring his services.

Traore, who is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy La Masia, made his first-team debut with the Catalans. He played just one match for Barcelona’s senior side before moving to the Premier League. While he was with the Catalans, Pep Guardiola was in charge of the La Liga giants.

According to The Times, Man City manager Guardiola is looking to sign Traore as he is aiming to revamp his side that will be able to challenge Liverpool for the league title next season.

Klopp has heaped praise on Traore in recent times and the 24-year-old could be a great fit in his style of soccer at the Merseyside. However, the Reds are also looking to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich, whose transfer fee is expected to be around $45 million. Considering they had backed out of the race to sign Timo Werner because of his $59 million fee, it looks unlikely that Liverpool would make a move to bring Traore to Anfield amid a financial crisis that has been infused by the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, Wolves are not ready to accept anything less than $169 million for their Spanish striker, who still has three years left on his current contract.

Traore scored six goals in as many as 50 competitive appearances for Wolves in the 2019-20 season. With only two games left to play for each club in the Premier League, Wolves are currently placed seventh in the table with 56 points and are six points behind fourth-placed Leicester City.
