  • Series creator Dan Fogelman said "This Is Us" will have a simple ending
  • He noted that the finale would answer all the questions of the viewers
  • Fogelman added that there are no plans for a potential spinoff

"This Is Us" creator Dan Fogelman got candid about the finale of the series.

The show creator spoke with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the "This Is Us" Season 6 finale. Fogelman wants to give the viewers a feel like he is closing a "final chapter" of a sprawling family saga in the finale. After an ambitious series, the ending will be simple. He added that the "simple ending" should satisfy fans and won't leave them with unanswered questions.

"My hope is that by the end of the series, there is no stone left unturned," he told EW. "You would have nothing left to ask me about spoilers. You might want to call me and say, 'I don't like what happened to such-and-such. I don't like who such-and-such wound up with.' But you won't be going, 'Who?' If we've done that, I feel like we've done our job, and we've made the choices that we thought were best for the characters and for the story."

He continued, "But by the end of it, I don't think there will be any of these timeline mysteries left. Hopefully, it will set us up for a very beautiful and simple ending to the entire venture."

"This Is Us" is a well-loved series, so many wondered if there is a potential sequel or reboot where fans can reunite with the Pearsons. However, Fogelman said that there are no plans for such things at the time.

Fogelman admitted that they were not ready to end the show. But in the creative department, he felt that it would be hard to go past what they had this year.

"So it definitely feels like the end and the time to go," he said.

However, he is also not closing his doors for a possible reboot in the future.

"Who the hell knows? My wife is very excited to go turn on the 'Sex and the City' show all this time later. So I'm not speaking about the far future — or even the near future — though there's certainly no plan," he continued. "But in terms of any continuous spinoff or continuation of the show? No, we're definitely bringing it to the end."

"This Is Us" Season 6 will premiere on Jan. 4.
