The United Kingdom organized the first World Artistic Championship in 1993, and since then it has been used as a key event to determine who will move on to compete on the world stage at the Olympics. In its fourth time hosting since its inception, the U.K. will hold the 2022 World Artistic Championships at the Liverpool Arena in England.

The event will be live streamed on the USA Gymnastics subscription service and will host live updates throughout the nine-day tournament. The World Championships will set the tone for the 2024 Olympics, and the U.S. men's team will compete for the coveted five slots plus an alternate for 2024.

Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russian athletes will be barred from the Olympics and the qualifying World Championships.

The qualifications will take place from Oct. 29 - 31, while the finals will be held throughout the week the first week of November.

World pommel horse champion Stephen Nedoroscik secured his coveted slot on the U.S. men's team, along with Colt Walker and Asher Hong. Brody Malone and Donnell Whittenburg were the first men to earn their spots on the world team due to their performances at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in August, earning first and second place, respectively.

At age 18, Hong will be the youngest man to compete at the World Championships since Danell Levya in 2009.

Walker is a junior at Stanford. This year's championships will be his debut on a world stage.
