Real Madrid got their La Liga season off on the right note, with a thrashing of Real Zaragoza at La Romareda, 6-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick, and Marcelo, Xabi Alonso, and Kaka each added goals as Jose Mourinho's squad looked extremely sharp as they completely dominated Real Zaragoza.

Los Galacticos took 39 shots and 16 were on goal, while Real Zaragoza took eight shots, with only one on goal. Real Madrid had possession for 64 percent of the match.

Kaka, who has been subject to transfer speculation, entered the match for Mesut Ozil in the 78th minute, and scored only four minutes later.

Real Madrid is currently atop the La Liga standings as they have scored one more goal than Barcelona, who easily defeated Villarreal at Camp Nou, 5-0.

Lionel Messi trails Ronaldo among goal-scoring leaders, after netting two in Barcelona's season opener. Ronaldo is tied with Roberto Soldado of Valencia with three goals.
