“Vikings” Season 6 will mark the end of the popular TV series. In a recent interview, lead cast member Katheryn Winnick talked about her character’s journey, and how it will end. The former queen of Kattegat is now a grandma, but she still has one big battle left in her before the end.

The next season will see a more aged Lagertha, Winnick revealed in an interview with ET Canada. The actress had to sit in the makeup chair for hours each day to put on the prosthetics that made her character look older. Lagertha is a “granny” now, Winnick jokingly teased.

The aged look of Lagertha is a new chapter in the life of the character. “She’s trying to now redefine who she is as a grandmother and somebody who used to be a queen and a warrior,” Winnick said.

After her retirement, Lagertha will be busy trying to win the peace. This will be the last chapter of the character. Even though she is retired and is a grandmother now, Lagertha is not done fighting in “Vikings” Season 6. Winnick teased that her character will be involved in one big battle on the show before her journey ends.

Talking about the next season, Winnick said that it is going to be “adventurous” and “amazing.” It remains to be seen if Lagertha’s “big battle” will be the last fight of the TV series.

The trailer of the next season has already teased some major battle scenes on the show. There will be another big war for Kattegat among the brothers who are fighting for Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) legacy. Many characters have already died on the show, and the official Instagram page recently looked at which of the characters had the most epic journey to Valhalla so far.

While Lagertha’s journey is about to end, Winnick is beginning a new journey. The actress made her directorial debut on “Vikings” Season 6. She has directed the eighth episode, and in the interview she joked about how she can be a “little bossy” when she is behind the camera.
