A man was lynched by an angry mob for raping and killing a six-year-old girl. The incident took place in Mexico on Monday.

According to reports, the girl, identified as Jarid, went missing Thursday. The following day, her body was found on the roadside. Investigation revealed that the girl was raped and killed by 37-year-old Alfredo Roblero. On Monday, police arrived at his home to take him into custody. However, the angry villagers pulled the accused out of the police car and took him to a nearby community park where they tied him to a pole before beating him black and blue. The mob then doused the accused in fuel and set him ablaze.

The entire incident was caught on camera. Videos of the incident showed the man moving in pain as his body was engulfed in flames. According to reports, the police officers didn’t stop the angry mob. Meanwhile, forensic experts and the state police arrived at the scene post the incident to investigate.

In a statement, the Chiapas Attorney General’s Office (FGE) said it would “not allow the public to carry out justice by its own hand.” Investigation into the incident was ongoing.
