Stocks extend gains on Tuesday after data showed U.S. consumer confidence bounced back from a 2-1/2 year low in November as apprehension about job and income prospects eased.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 34.67 points, or 0.30 percent, at 11,557.68. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 3.68 points, or 0.31 percent, at 1,196.23. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 3.37 points, or 0.13 percent, at 2,530.71.
