Wall Street falters as housing data weighs
Stocks lost ground on Monday after data showed homebuilder sentiment fell more than expected, offsetting an earlier advance helped by gains in Halliburton and Boeing .
The Dow Jones home construction index <.DJUSHB> lost 1.3 percent. Financial shares led the way down on the S&P 500, with the sector falling 1 percent.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dipped 3.11 points, or 0.03 percent, to 10,094.79. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was off 1.06 points, or 0.10 percent, to 1,063.82. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> added 0.81 points, or 0.04 percent, to 2,179.86.
