Police in Georgia arrested a man Sunday after he accidentally shot himself and injured three others at a Walmart Supercenter.

The incident took place at about 12:20 p.m. ET in Lovejoy, a city located about 24 miles south of downtown Atlanta.

The Lovejoy Police Department said the customer "mishandled a firearm" and shot himself in the leg. The bullet went on to hit three others.

Upon arrival, officers determined one shot was fired, and it came from one of the wounded individuals.

The four injured Walmart shoppers have received medical treatment. All of their injuries were considered non-life threatening.

According to the police, the man's gun was loaded but not secured in a holster. Officials said the man failed to handle the firearm with a "reasonable standard of care."

Police noted that the man's "actions put all other patrons and employees of the business at risk."

The alleged shooter, Michael Walton, 29, faces a charge of reckless conduct following the shooting and will be booked into the Clayton County Jail.

In July, police arrested two people for allegedly kidnapping an 18-year-old woman at the same Walmart location. Witnesses told police a man used a gun to break a car window and dragged the woman out of the vehicle. The man then threatened her at gunpoint and forced her into his car.

The woman later escaped and police later apprehended the suspects.
