A shocking video surfaced on YouTube showing a 5-year-old girl playing with a 13-foot-long python, which is nearly four times her size. The video shocked social media users as the child was seen patting the giant yellow snake in an alleyway next to a home in Surrey, in southeast England.

The young girl could be seen in the video completely relaxed while bonding with the pet python named Cher. At one point she bends towards the python as if to kiss it.

The footage was posted on YouTube on the channel "Sonny and Cher Reticulated Pythons." The description of the channel reads: "Snakes are not blood thirsty monsters. They are often wrongly portrayed by the media to cause panic and paranoia. These videos highlight the extremely placid nature of what actually happens looking after well-kept reptiles in a domestic setting."

The video has been viewed more than 50,000 times and users were surprised to see the girl fearlessly being close to the massive reptile. According to the girl's parents, it was "second nature" for their daughter and the snake to play with one another. However, this was the only instance where their bonding was caught on camera.

The family said snakes have varying temperaments, but the python has been harmless. They reportedly mentioned their daughter had sustained 4,673 bites from their family cat, one from their tortoise and zero from the python.

This is not the first time young children have been playing with a massive python. In 2015, a video went viral as it showed a 13-foot-long Burmese python slithering over a toddler. The toddler was playing with the snake as her father watched.

Snake enthusiast Jamie Guarino, from Walled Lake, Detroit, insisted his 14-month-old daughter Alyssa was in no danger from their giant pet snake Nay-Nay at the time.

"I was showing the simple fact that snakes are not evil creatures," he said in the video. "They can be a loving pet despite their bad reputation. My daughter was absolutely in no danger... There are 95 percent more dog attacks then snake attacks."

In a recent incident in May, two girls were seen in a video riding a python in Indonesia, which also led to shocked reactions from social media users.
