“The Good Witch” is returning for its highly anticipated seventh season on Hallmark Channel, and while longtime fans of the show are certainly looking forward to catching up with the residents of Middleton, especially Cassie (Catherine Bell), some who are newer to the enchanting series may not remember that the hit show started as a series of movies.

In fact, while the first season of the show, which followed the story of Cassie and her teenage daughter, Grace (Bailee Madison), as well as their friends and loved ones in Middleton, and focused on how new resident Dr. Sam Radford (James Denton) fit into the town, began airing in February 2015, several films actually premiered beforehand and told a whole different chapter of Cassie’s story.

“The Good Witch”

Needing help in the store, Cassie immediately hires Audrey as her new store associate and she even pitches in and helps Cassie organize the auction. But Audrey is hiding a secret past and suspicions start to swirl around her when the donated auction items are missing. With the use of her ‘special’ powers, as well as some teamwork by the Mayor and Jake her husband, and local Chief of Police, will they conjure up the truth before it’s too late?”

The first season of the show began airing a few short months after “The Good Witch’s Wonder,” and the show revealed that Jake had since been shot in the line of duty and died, which paved way for the introduction of Sam. It also led to some cast changes as several characters were also aged up. The movies resumed that following Fall.
