At the same time the news broke in 2018 that “Suits” leads Patrick J. Adams (Mike) and Meghan Markle (Rachel) were officially exiting the series after Season 7, it was also announced that the show would be coming back for a Season 8, and “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Katherine Heigl would be joining the cast.

Fans were excited to see what she’d bring to the long-running legal show, but no one was more excited than the actress because she knew the magical, royal powers the USA Network series seemed to have.

She shared on Instagram early last year that she “could not be more excited to be joining the cast and crew of [‘Suits’ because it] turns actresses into princesses.” She was, of course, referring to Markle, who, at that point, was gearing up to marry Prince Harry in a royal wedding.

Now, not only is she officially married to a prince and pregnant with their first baby, but she also has the royal title of Duchess of Sussex. Markle’s role as Rachel on “Suits” was her final acting gig before she retired from the industry to focus on her new royal life and duties.

Heigl mentioned how “neat” she thought it was that Markle was joining the royal family and even joked that everyone should be awaiting her own “royal wedding announcement next year.”

“Just kidding,” she continued. “I already married my prince @joshbkelley.”

A year after posting her comments, Heigl is all over the USA show as lawyer Samantha Wheeler. You can catch her in new Season 8 episodes of “Suits” every Wednesday on USA at 10 p.m. EST.
