Pizza chains across the U.S. are experiencing a surge in sales as consumers turn toward delivery during the coronavirus pandemic. But which pizza chain is leading the pizza wars for most ordered pizzas in the states?

A report from TOP Data shows that Little Caesars is the preferred pizza restaurant among Americans, leading pizza orders in 24 states. States that are enjoying Little Caesars include areas that have been hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic, including California, Texas, and Florida.

Following Little Caesars for most beloved pizza chain is Papa John’s with nine states and Domino’s with seven states choosing it as their preferred pie.

Falling behind Papa John’s and Domino’s is Godfather’s Pizza – loved by Oklahomans and New Yorkers with Pizza Hut securing the states of South Dakota and Louisiana. Marco’s Pizza stole the state of Indiana as the most popular pizza chain in the state.

Despite consumers’ affinity for pizza, chains in the U.S. have reported that overall visits are down by 20%. Little Caesars, despite its popularity, has seen its restaurant visits drop by 6%, TOPS Data reported.

But pizza delivery is on the rise with Papa John’s reporting a sales increase of 24.2% in comparable sales for its North American restaurants in August over the same time period in 2019, and Dominos has seen its same-store sales grow by 16.1% in the U.S. for Q2 2020, compared to the second quarter of 2019.
