Eco-friendly and sustainable cities could become a reality in the near future. Former Walmart executive and founder of Jet.com Marc Lore has designed a blueprint that could be the foundation of a completely “new city” in America.

The goal is “to create a new city in America that sets a global standard for urban living, expands human potential, and becomes a blueprint for future generations,” the project's website says.

The billionaire has teamed up with the architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group to create an urban blueprint of what the city called “Telosa” could entail. Telosa would be focused on community, jobs, mobility, and environment.

It would be clean, diverse, and full of helpful services including eco-friendly architecture like buildings covered in plants, sustainable energy production, and a water system that is resistant to droughts.

“Renewable resources would power the city, freshwater would be stored, cleaned, and reused on-site, autonomous cars would create safe and flexible streetscapes. Citizens are provided with honest and clear financials. The environment would always be a priority, and a place where citizens are informed and politicians are accountable,” according to the website.

It also explains that “every student would have access to the best teachers and resources, quality training for jobs, access to personalized healthcare, diverse housing options are accessible to all, nature and public spaces bring people together, people can easily assess needs with a 15-minute commute, and residents would share ownership of the land.”

“As the city does better the residents do better,” in a community concept they are calling Equitism.

There are plans to have a “beacon of the city” which would be the Equitism Tower with a photovoltaic roof, water storage, and aeroponic farms to produce energy that would be distributed throughout the city.

The city is planned to be created somewhere in the desert of Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, or the Appalachian region. It is estimated that residents will be invited by 2030.

Lore is looking for the funds to finance the new city. He would need around $400 billion to make the vision come to life.

"Cities that have been built to date from scratch are more like real estate projects," Lore said in a promotional video. "They don't start with people at the center. Because if you started with people at the center, you would immediately think, 'OK, what's the mission and what are the values?' "

"The mission of Telosa is to create a more equitable and sustainable future. That's our North Star."
