How many episodes will there be in Season 6 of Hallmark Channel’s “When Calls the Heart”? Executive producer Brian Bird revealed the answer in a couple Twitter posts.

Bird shared an image on social media on Sunday of his “When Calls the Heart” Season 6 computer files, but it was only a small tease because he only showed the folder names and not any actual photos or videos. Still, fans were happy just to see that he’s hard at work on the show’s return.

“Wouldn’t #Hearties love to see what’s in these folders,” Bird captioned the screenshot. “Oh, was that my out loud voice? Sorry, spoon gets a little heavy to carry sometimes.”

Though the photo didn’t share much, many thought it let slip that the Hallmark drama was going to have 12 episodes in the new season, up two from Season 5. Alas, that’s not the case. When one Twitter user asked about it, Bird clarified the situation and confirmed that there will once again be 10 episodes in the season and that the extra two make up the Christmas movie special arriving later this year.

“When Calls the Heart” has had a Christmas movie every year, but the show’s episode order hasn’t always been the same. It had a different amount of episodes its first three seasons, with Season 1 having 12 episodes, Season 2 having seven and Season 3 having eight. Both Seasons 4 and 5 had 10 episodes, and, now, so will Season 6. The new season is set to begin on Hallmark Channel in early 2019.

On top of that, Hallmark recently announced that a spinoff series of the period drama is on the way. Currently titled “When Hope Calls,” the new show will air on Hallmark Movies Now, an SVOD service, and will be the first streaming series for the company. It will focus on “a new town & new characters,” according to Bird, but might also feature some familiar faces from “When Calls the Heart.” It’s expected to debut next year.
