Vanderbilt University is making history on Saturday.

A Vanderbilt women’s soccer player is suiting up to play in the football game against Missouri for the first time ever. Sarah Fuller might not make an appearance in this game, but she’ll be on the sidelines with the rest of her teammates.

She’ll be SEC’s first female football student-athlete, according to Vanderbilt Football.

Her photo she posted on her Instagram has been circulating on social media. People had many positive things to say about this historic moment, but some, like journalist Jason Whitlock, were questioning her ability and if this was Vanderbilt’s best decision.

After Whitlock's tweet was posted, users had their opinions, and many of them were alluding to the fact that he was just upset that a woman got the job over a man.

Others were defending his questions and explaining how a men’s intramural soccer player would have been a good fit as well.

Fuller plays on the school’s soccer team as a goalie. It’s confirmed that she’s been practicing with the Vandy football team, according to the Vanderbilt Hustler.

Whether she’ll play or not remains unconfirmed, but she is on the roster and has the ability to step in if needed.

Fuller hasn’t released a statement about any of these accusations.
