Less than a month after she decided to come out, teen dancer JoJo Siwa has revealed she has a new girlfriend. The 17-year-old on Monday shared photos and a video of herself and her girlfriend Kylie to celebrate their one-month anniversary.

“After being my best friend for over a year, January 8th 2021 I got to start calling this exceptional human my Girlfriend… and Since then I’ve been the happiest I have ever been!” Siwa wrote in the caption of the post.

“She seriously is the most loving, supportive, happiest, protective, and just the most beautiful perfect person in the world. And I get to call her mine! Happy one month to my girl! I love you more and more every day!.”

In 2020, Siwa was included on Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world. She appeared with her mother for two seasons on Lifetime's "Dance Moms."

Siwa's new girlfriend also shared a post featuring a video and photos celebrating the mini-milestone in their relationship.

“Fall in love with your best friend, guys. It’s THE BEST feeling in the entire world. Here’s to one month with my favorite human :) I love you sharky,” Kylie captioned the post.

Siwa’s relationship announcement comes weeks after she shared a video of herself on TikTok singing Lady Gaga’s LGBTQ anthem “Born this Way.” Not long after the post, Siwa spoke about her sexuality during an Instagram Live session and explained why she couldn’t label herself.

“The reason I’m not going to say this answer is because I don’t really know this answer,” she said.

“I think humans are awesome, I think humans are really incredible people. Right now, I’m super duper happy, and I want to share everything with the world, but I also want to keep things in my life private until they are ready to be public. … Right now what matters is that you guys know that no matter who you love, that it’s OK. It’s awesome. and the world is there for you.”

Siwa, who has a younger fanbase, has received praise for her decision to come out despite potential backlash from parents.

Traci Gillig, a Washington State University assistant professor, who studied the impacts of LGBTQ+ representation on young people told CNN that Siwa’s decision to come out was important and unprecedented.

“JoJo’s pride in her identity and her confidence in shrugging off negative responses indicates that her social media presence will foster a sense of supportive community for LGBTQ youth,” Gillig said.

“She’s one more voice -- and a big one -- communicating to young LGBTQ people that they are loved.”

Siwa has a history of being transparent with her social media followers.
