Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are taking their time when it comes to tying the knot, a report says.

Lopez, 52, announced via her On the JLo newsletter Friday that she and Affleck, 49, are engaged for the second time, nearly one year after they rekindled their romance in April 2021. Their second engagement comes 18 years after they called off their last one in January 2004.

But while they've taken their relationship to the next level, an unnamed source told People that the "Marry Me" actress and the "Justice League" star "will not rush a wedding."

"They are content being engaged for now and aren't talking about any wedding details yet," the insider explained.

According to the source, Lopez and Affleck are "both thrilled about the engagement," and the couple "wanted to make sure this is it."

"Their relationship is different this time because they are older, more mature and able to deal with any obstacles," the source continued. "They are both taking their relationship very seriously. They want to make it work no matter what."

Lopez and Affleck first began dating in July 2002 after meeting on the set of "Gigli." They got engaged that November but pushed back their September 2003 wedding just days before the big day. They ultimately called off their engagement in January 2004.

The "Let's Get Loud" singer has been married three times. She was previously married to actor Ojani Noa (1997-1998), choreographer Cris Judd (2001-2003), and Marc Anthony (2004-2014). Anthony and Lopez share 14-year-old twins, Emme and Max.

Lopez's most recent high-profile relationship came in 2017 when news broke that she was dating former New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez. The two got engaged in March 2019 before their split in April 2021.

Meanwhile, Affleck moved on from Lopez with Jennifer Garner. They married in 2005 but split 10 years later. They finalized their divorce in 2018. Affleck and Garner share three children: Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10.

Lopez recently told People what makes her and Affleck's connection different now compared to 18 years ago, saying, "We're older now, we're smarter, we have more experience, we're at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things."

"It's a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other," she added. "We always did, but we have even more of an appreciation because we know that life can take you in different directions."

Lopez also told Ellen DeGeneres on the latter's eponymous talk show earlier this year that no one was "more surprised than" her and Affleck when they reignited their romance after nearly two decades.

"You never could imagine that something like that could happen. It's a beautiful thing," the singer said.
