  • Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard haven't visited the Duggar's big house for years due to their mental health
  • Derick said there are a lot of triggers in the Duggar family’s home
  • Jill also admitted that they are not on the best terms with some members of the family

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard both admitted that they haven't visited the Duggar family in the past few years and the reason has something to do with their mental health.

The former "Counting On" stars shared in a YouTube Q&A Sunday that they haven't visited Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's home also known as "the big house" in a long time. Jill said they had to prioritize their mental health while Derick added that there are "a lot of triggers there."

"We haven't actually been over there in a while, probably like a couple years, other than once, like, to check the mail," Jill confessed. "[In] this season of life, we have to prioritize our mental, emotional health and all of that. Our threshold—we like to call it—is just a little bit lower in this season of life for us, with a lot going on in our own lives."

Jill also mentioned the "restrictions" of the coronavirus pandemic as part of the reasons for the distance between the family. But she didn't deny that their relationship with some members of the family isn't at its best.

"COVID just makes it a lot harder right now, with trying to keep our circles smaller and everything. We'd like for it not to stay that way, but that's where we are right now," she continued. "We're not on the best terms with some of my family. We've had some disagreements, but we're working towards healing definitely and restoration, but we're having to kind of just take some time and heal."

Jill and Derick admitted that when they were still part of the Duggar's reality shows "19 Kids and Counting" and "Counting On," they did not have control over their lives. They decided to quit the TLC shows because they wanted to make decisions for themselves and pursue the goals they have for their own family. Jill said they have no regrets over their decision.

She revealed the reason for their exit in another Q&A in October saying, "We left the show because basically, our family goals that we had for ourselves didn't align with what we found out." After quitting "Counting On," she hired an attorney to recover her earnings from the reality show, but the amount she received was only "a little more than minimum wage" and nowhere near what she felt was due.
