After taking eight months off to spend time with her new husband, Brendan McLoughlin, Miranda Lambert is back to work. She revealed the news on US99, a radio station out of Chicago.

The 35-year-old country singer divorced from Blake Shelton in 2015 and secretly married McLoughlin in February. McLoughlin is a 28-year-old New York police officer, who started dating Lambert in November 2018.

According to Lambert, the eight-month break may be the last her touring team will let her take. She told, the radio station, “They’re not going to let me have eight months off ever again because I get married and do weird [expletive].”

Lambert and McLoughlin have mainly stayed out of the public eye, choosing to make rare appearances together. The couple is focusing on their newly blended family, which includes McLoughlin’s eight-month-old son from a previous relationship and Lambert’s family of dogs.

The couple also splits their time between Nashville and New York City, where McLoughlin is based, which Lambert told Extra was the “best of both worlds.”

Lambert’s break from the road may have been needed as she is gearing up for her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour. She returned to the stage in June at the Country LakeShake festival in Chicago. This is the first time the singer has performed in nearly a year.

She told People, “I had the longest break I’ve ever had in 17 years.”
