Many “Dancing With The Stars” fans would be elated if the rumors that professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy was coming back to the hit ABC reality dancing show are true. According to Access Hollywood, there’s a definite possibility that the “DWTS” bad boy could return for season 17.

At the Television Critics Association summer press tour ABC president Paul Lee said according to AH that “Maks is part of the family. He may well be back” this fall. “We love having him a part of it," Lee added.

But Chmerkovskiy isn’t the only fan favorite to make a comeback. Last season’s Mirror Ball champion Derek Hough, who won with Country crooner Kellie Pickler, will also be hitting the “DWTS” floor again.

He succinctly responded, “Yes” when asked by AH if he would come back, and then added: “The format [of the show is] changing. We’ve got one show a week now, but I think it’ll make a better show, more jam-packed. And so I’m excited about it.”

Fans were upset when Chmerkovskiy, who famously coached Kirstey Alley, exited by at the time the professional dancer said it seemed obvious why he would be leaving. "What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons? It makes total sense," he told the New York Post in September 2012. "The audience can't expect for me to want to stick around, and the producers can't expect for me to want to stick around."

Since Chmerkovskiy, who fans affectionately refer to as “Maks,” left his brother Val seemingly has taken his brothers place on the show and even placed third with Kelly Monaco in the “DWTS” all-star season.
