UPDATE: May 11, 6:40 p.m. EDT -- “The Orville” lives to go on another adventure. Fox renewed the Seth MacFarlane-led series for Season 3 on Saturday, Variety reports.

Original story: Fox’s “The Orville” is saying goodbye with its Season 2 finale tonight.

Whether it’s goodbye forever or just goodbye for now remains to be seen, as the space dramedy hasn’t yet been canceled or renewed for Season 3. Deadline reported the show’s “expected to be renewed,” but no decision has officially been made.

Out of Fox’s 10 hourlong scripted programs currently airing, “The Orville” comes in at number six in the ratings. It has an average rating of 0.75 in the 18-49 demographic and an average of 3.18 million viewers, according to TV Series Finale.

The network will likely make its decision about “The Orville” before or during its 2019 Upfronts presentation in New York City on May 13. These events are used by networks and streaming platforms to share details about their new and returning programs, which means the odds are good that Fox will be giving updates on its Seth MacFarlane series in the next few weeks.

Until then, fans can enjoy at least one more new episode of the show when the Season 2 finale, titled “The Road Not Taken,” airs tonight.

In Season 2, episode 14, “the crew must contend with the disastrous fallout from Kelly’s [Adrianne Palicki] decision,” according to the synopsis.

See the aftermath of that decision when the Season 2 finale of “The Orville” airs on Fox on Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT.
