A 52-year-old woman in Detroit was arrested Tuesday after biting off the tip of a man’s tongue while kissing, authorities said.

Youlette Wedgeworth was arraigned Wednesday on a misdemeanor aggravated assault charge, according to Associated Press.

The victim was Wedgeworth’s friend and the kiss was consensual, WDIV reported, citing authorities.

“I believe this is the first case of this nature in my 27 years in the Prosecutor’s Office,” prosecutor Eric Smith told the publication.

Police were called to the victims' apartment in Center Line on Tuesday. They found him bleeding from the mouth. Officers found the missing chunk of his tongue in a bedroom which approximately measured up to an inch.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment while Wedgeworth was nabbed. She was held on a $25,000 bond. She was due to appear in a pretrial conference on Feb. 19.
