An Argentine woman was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment Wednesday for hacking off her boyfriend’s genitals.

On Nov. 25, 2017, 28-year-old Brenda Barattini called her boyfriend, 42-year-old Sergio Fernandez, home. The two started having sex, during which she asked him to wear a mask for a sex game. She then cut off his genitals with shears. Neighbors rushed to the home after hearing his screams and rescued him. Police arrived at the scene and arrested Barattini. She confessed to the crime but said she did not intend to kill him. Meanwhile, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries where he spent eight days in a coma.

During the trial, the court was told that Barattini took the step after her boyfriend, who was married and was having an affair with her, shared her sex tapes and photos with friends.

“He turned me into a sex object. He infringed my privacy, my life and my career. Everything has been ruined,” she told the court.

Meanwhile, Fernandez, whose 90 percent of the penis was sheared off, told the court, "We started to have sex and she told me she was going to give me a little surprise. She put a mask on me, a velvet one. After that, she told me to guess what she was touching me with. She also wanted to tie me up, but I didn't want her to. She started to perform oral sex on me. Suddenly I felt something.”

“She wanted to kill me in that second. I felt like I was going to die, I didn't know she had cut me. I couldn't see anything. I tried to get up, I pulled up my trousers and instinctively grabbed by mobile phone to call an ambulance. I wanted to leave and she started to insult me. She grabbed my t-shirt, my hair, she wouldn't let me leave,” he said, adding he still gets panic attacks and his genitals is now “different.”

On Wednesday, she was unanimously convicted of attempted murder and handed over the sentence.
