A woman in India threw her 14-day-old son from a third-floor apartment following a dispute with her husband.

The woman, identified as 27-year-old Lavanya, married 32-year-old Venu Gopal in 2016. Their marriage was volatile and the two used to have frequent fights. Despite attending several counseling sessions, the two failed to sort out their differences.

On Oct. 29, the woman attempted to kill herself by consuming rat poison. Her parents luckily rushed her to the hospital on time, thus saving her life. The woman gave birth to the baby boy the following day, local daily the Times of India reported.

In the meantime, the woman's parents filed a police complaint against Gopal and a case of abetment to suicide and domestic violence was registered against him.

After the woman was discharged from the hospital, she went to her parents' home in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad. On Friday, the woman flung the baby from her parents' apartment. The child died on the spot.

When Gopal was informed about the baby's death, he filed a police complaint against the woman Sunday, accusing her of killing the baby following a dispute with him.

A case of murder has been filed against Lavanya, however, she is yet to be taken into custody as she is still recovering post-delivery. The couple has another son who is three years old.

The incident comes days after a woman jumped to death after throwing her son from the 17th-floor balcony of their apartment in India's northern city of Greater Noida.

The woman, identified as 28-year-old Priyanka Tyagi, had an argument with her 17-year-old sister-in-law, during which the former threw a bowl of hot oil on the latter's face. When the teen ran out to call for help, the woman threw her 4-year-old son from the balcony before jumping. The woman's husband was not at home when the incident took place.

Police arrived at the scene and found the woman and child in critical condition. The officers rushed the two to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. In the meantime, the sister-in-law was taken to another hospital with burn injuries.
