A woman in Kenya stabbed three men on the street and sucked blood that oozed from the victims Wednesday evening. Passersby who witnessed the horrific crime then tried to lynch her.

The incident took place in Saa Mbaya area in Kenya's capital Nairobi, reported Citizen Digital. The woman, identified as Margaret Wangari, got into a heated argument with a man, who is believed to be her boyfriend. She then stabbed the man in the head using a kitchen knife. The reason behind their argument was not known.

Two passersby tried to restrain her, but Wangari stabbed them several times. Her boyfriend succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while the two other men collapsed. Wangari sucked the victims' blood afterward.

"Passer-by found the suspect sucking blood from open stab wounds sustained by the three victims," police said as per Nairobi News.

An irate mob then started stoning Wangari in an attempt to lynch her. However, police arrived at the scene and saved her from the mob.

"Officers rushed to the scene, just as outraged members of the public were about to lynch the suspect," police added.

Stoning and lynching are still practiced in many African countries. According to a report from Deutsche Welle, some citizens resort to mob justice and would rather take the law into their own hands because they do not trust the police. In 2011, Kenyan police added "lynching" in its crime statistics for the very first time.

Wangari was arrested on murder charges and was set to appear in court Friday. It was unclear if she was suffering from psychiatric problems.

The two passersby, who sustained stab wounds to the neck and chest, were rushed to a nearby hospital. Their condition remained unknown. Meanwhile, the body of the dead man was sent for an autopsy.

The incident comes weeks after an Arizona man with a mental health disorder was arrested for stabbing his father over 20 times. The man first hit his father in the head with the statue before stabbing him multiple times in the stomach and torso. The victim managed to escape to a neighbor's home. The suspect, who claimed to be a "messiah" wanting to rid his father of a "shape-shifting reptile" that had taken over his body, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
