Stone Cold Steve Austin is headed to WrestleMania 38, accepting a challenge issued by Kevin Owens. Exactly what will happen in the WWE legend’s return remains somewhat unclear.

At the end of the latest edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Owens invited Stone Cold to be a guest on “The KO Show” on Night 1 of WrestleMania 38. On Tuesday, Austin officially agreed to confront the WWE superstar on April 2 at AT&T Stadium.

For weeks, there have been rumors that Austin might return to be part of the WrestleMania 38 card. Austin hasn’t wrestled since facing The Rock at WrestleMania 19 in 2003, and it doesn’t appear that his confrontation with Owens will be billed as an official match.

However, both Stone Cold and WWE are indicating that his appearance at WrestleMania 38 is going to be much more than just a verbal exchange with Owens.

“Kevin Owens, I want to thank you. I want to thank you for waking something up deep inside of me that I’ve kept buried for 19 years,” Austin said in response to Owens’ challenge.

“Whether you want to call this a ‘KO Show,’ a match, a fight, a brawl, whatever. I will guarantee you this: in Dallas, Texas, where I started my career, at WrestleMania, Stone Cold Steve Austin is gonna open up one last can of whoop-ass on you, Kevin Owens.”

Austin has taken part in recent WrestleMania events on several occasions since his retirement. At WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium, Stone Cold delivered multiple stunners to members of the active WWE roster.

The Raw Women’s Championship and the SmackDown Women’s Championship are the biggest matches set for Night 1 of WrestleMania 38. The confrontation between Austin and Owens might be the most highly anticipated part of Saturday’s show.

Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will fight in the main event on Night 2 of WrestleMania 38.
