  • Cameron, Melina and Paige have been rumored to be entrants in the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble match
  • A renowned commentator has also been cleared for in-ring activities after retiring in 2014 due to multiple concussions
  • WWE is rumored to be bringing in an "unexpected forbidden door" entrant in the Men's Royal Rumble match

With the Royal Rumble set to happen on January 29, WWE fans have been speculating which superstars will be making their appearance at the annual event.

Wrestling Inc spilled the beans on the performers making their way back to WWE for a one-night appearance.

“The current plan is for Cameron and former WWE Women’s Champion Melina to be entrants in the Women’s Royal Rumble,” Middleton wrote citing a report from Pro Wrestling Insider.

Fans had not seen Melina in a WWE ring since August 2011, where she competed in a No. 1 contender’s battle royal for the Divas Championship--which Beth Phoenix had won.

Melina had been a major fixture in Vince McMahon’s company since she entered the promotion in 2004 as the manager of the MNM stable with John Morrison (then Johnny Nitro) and Joey Mercury.

Throughout her seven-year tenure with WWE, Melina had won the WWE Women’s Championship thrice and the Divas Championship twice.

Cameron made her main roster appearance in WWE as the other half of the Funkadactlys in 2012 with former SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi but was released from her contract in 2016.

There are currently 19 announced superstars for the Women’s Royal Rumble, 21 if counting the rumored returns of Cameron and Melina.

Former Divas Champion Paige has also been heavily teasing her in-ring appearance at the event after addressing the rumors via Twitter.

As for the Men’s Rumble match, former NXT superstar-turned-commentator Corey Graves has been rumored to be cleared to return to the ring seven years since he was forced to retire due to multiple concussions suffered throughout his career.

Twitter account Pro Wrestling Votes put out an update over the weekend that WWE “will try for an unexpected forbidden door entrant for the Men’s Royal Rumble” and it has sent fans into a frenzy as to who this male superstar could be.

From AEW star Chris Jericho to Impact Wrestling World Champion Moose, and even New Japan Pro Wrestling icons Kazuchika Okada and Kota Ibushi, the possibilities are endless as fans hold out hope for some of pro wrestling’s biggest stars to make an appearance in the Royal Rumble match.

Understandably, no information has been leaked from WWE’s side on who this “unexpected forbidden door entrant” could be, to which many hope will open the organization’s eyes to working with other pro wrestling promotions in order to have more interesting storylines moving forward.

More information and rumors are set to abound the internet in the coming days regarding the surprise performers who will appear on the January 29 card.
