  • Rumors speculate that he is off to AEW

Matt Hardy is known to be one of the most memorable superstars the wrestling industry has seen. He rose to fame in the late 90s and early 2000s with his brother Jeff as part of the tag team the Hardy Boys. They instantly became a crowd favorite with their impressive reign as tag team champions. They’ve become synonymous to the tables ladders and chairs match where they shone the brightest with their death-defying spots.

Hardy has also gained success in his singles run. He was a former cruiserweight champion and he’s beaten Eddie Guerrero for the European title. In addition to these, he also had a reign as the ECW champion back in 2008.

From there he’s racked up more titles when he left WWE for TNA. He held the Heavyweight Championship twice under TNA and had a major push that is considered one of the best angles his career has been booked. He pursued the Broken Matt persona to which was well received by the people.

He returned to the WWE with his brother Jeff in Wrestlemania 33 and had another strong run with the company. He’s won multiple tag team titles after, including one with current WWE Universal Champion Bray Wyatt – his first tag team championship reign without his brother.

He’s been in sporadic appearances ever since with the company due to his recurring injury. In his most recent outing, he had an altercation with Randy Orton as he was seeking answers to why The Viper attacked Edge. As a response, Randy Orton dealt him with a con-chair-to. This is a possible angle to write Matt Hardy off as his contract is set to expire.

Matt Hardy is still active online, pursuing his broken image. With the Broken Matt gimmick, his chants of delete may soon be connected to the elite. Speculation is brewing that he is off to jump to one of WWE’s competitors: The All Elite Wrestling (AEW) brand. AEW currently holds multiple former WWE talents and superstars. Hardy could be one of the next big names to transfer as he recently released a teaser video hinting a link to AEW’s Dark Order.
