They’ve been preparing for the worst when it comes to her condition following a hit and run accident. However, the latest developments in Nikki’s case may be the most surprising ones yet for her loved ones on the Thursday, Dec. 27 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

After Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) was brought into the hospital following a hit-and-run, her family was devastated to learn that despite surgery, she may not make it. Nate (Brooks Darnell) informed Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) that their families may want to say their goodbyes, because Nikki’s MS was only further complicating things on the CBS soap, and she didn’t seem likely to make it. However, things could take a very unexpected turn now.

“Nikki shocks her family,” spoilers for “Y&R” tease.

What no one else knows is that Nikki wound up getting a surprise visit from Victor (Eric Braden), who snuck in without anyone knowing and pleaded with his wife to find her way back to him. It seems likely that his appearance will do the trick, and Nikki will wake up because of him.

However, that likely isn’t the only surprise the family is going to face. A preview clip for the week’s episodes shows Nick and Victoria making a shocking discovery when they go into their mother’s hospital room—and see that she’s no longer there. Now, things will be the most complicated yet for the Newmans as they are forced to wonder what happened and deal with the fact that both of their parents have disappeared.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
