They’ve both been fighting for custody of Christian and some dirty tricks played out during their trial to prove that neither one of them was a real fit to be his dad. Now, as Nick and Adam learn the results of their hearing, they will both be forced to step up and find outside help on the Wednesday, July 24 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

Previously the hearing didn’t go so well for Nick (Joshua Morrow), who was put on the defensive after Adam (Marc Grossman) arranged for the judge to see a leaked story about when his brother pretended to be JT (Thad Luckinbill), who was believed dead at the time. Despite seeming to have a strong case on the CBS soap that he would be a better father for Christian, the judge didn’t seem convinced and told the warring brothers that he would make his decision and get back to them. Since then, Adam even tried bargaining his biological son for Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), to no avail. Now, with an end to their personal fight nowhere in sight, the two men will finally learn what the judge feels is best.

A preview clip for the week’s episodes (see above) showed Nick crying as he hugged Christian goodbye, meaning that he definitely won’t be winning the case. However, the judge may not feel Adam is fit as a father either—and the two will have to figure out someone else to watch after and take care of Christian, and they will each likely have different ideas about who should be doing it.

“Victoria steps up,” spoilers reveal.

Nick will likely seek out his sister because he trusts her to do a good job taking care of Christian in the meantime until he heads back to court and hopefully wins, and knows she will also choose him if she is brought in to testify at the next hearing. However, Adam will have a different person in mind as well, bringing more trouble with his choice as a result.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
