They’ve been keeping the truth from everyone about what happened on the night of Nikki’s hit-and-run accident. Now, Reed and Charlie will finally come forward with the truth, and their decision may spur the older woman to make a shocking confession of her own on the Thursday, Jan. 3 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

After finally revealing the truth to his mother, Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) realized he needed to come clean entirely about being the one behind the wheel of the car that hit Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and left her there. Since then on the CBS soap, his mother had an awkward confrontation with Cane (Daniel Goddard), and the two have decided that Reed and Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) needed to reveal the truth to Nikki.

“Reed confesses,” spoilers for “Y&R” reveal.

Though they will fear the worst, Reed and Charlie will learn that Nikki won’t press charges, likely because she doesn’t want her grandson to go to jail, and because she also had some fault in what happened that night since she’d been drinking. However, while Victoria will have relief over her son not being in trouble, she will quickly become horrified by what her mother then reveals about her own plans for the future.

As he tried to get Nikki out of town, Victor (Eric Braden) was arrested for JT’s (Thad Luckinbill) murder, and Nikki doesn’t want her husband to suffer for her crimes. A preview clip for the week’s episodes (see above) shows her telling Victoria she wants to confess for the crime—and now it will be up to her daughter to convince her otherwise.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
