Zero Discrimination Day is celebrated around the world annually on March 1 to promote diversity and end discrimination on the basis of their skin color, gender, ethnicity and religion amongst others.

The celebration, which is represented by the symbol of the butterfly, was launched by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS) director Michel Sidibé in December 2013 and was first observed on March 1, the following year.
