Google launched Monday the second Android Nougat operating system (OS) Beta update. The Android Nougat MR2 update has started rolling out to the Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones and the Pixel C and Nexus Player tablets.

The build, which is numbered NPG471 will be seeded to all eligible devices signed up for the Android Beta Program. It is expected to roll out over-the-air, but if you own an eligible device, you can check if you have got it in Settings >About > Software Updates.

The update brings a slew of changes, which includes:

Nexus 6P fingerprint scanner gesture

The feature, which has been there on Pixel devices since launch, will now roll out to Nexus 6P devices. It lets you pull down the notification bar by scrolling your finger across the fingerprint scanner at the back of the device.

New launcher, navigation bar icons and multi-tasking screen for Pixel C

The update brings a new navigation bar and increased multi-tasking options for Pixel C tablet owners. The new multi-tasking screen that presents a large card view of open application, replacing the previous carousel type view — users will be able to open apps by simply dragging and dropping them on to one side of the screen.

Settings menu update

The settings menu will now have the same look as the one on Google’s smartphones. It will have the same blue color scheme.

New Navigation buttons

The navigation buttons on all devices have been changed to all-white navigation buttons like the Pixel smartphones.

The update hasn’t been rolled out Nexus 6, which is a signal that software update cycle for the Motorola Nexus devices is ending.
