A Chinese-language commercial daily Times quoted Dan Heyler, a semiconductor analyst with Merrill Lynch in Taipei, hinting at the arrival of iPhone 6 in 2012.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) stands a better chance of securing orders from Apple for its next generation A6 iOS device processors next year.

Samsung Electronics would lose Apple’s partnership for the production of the A4, which found its way in the iPhone 4, and iPad 1 and A5 processor in iPad2.

The A6 chip for the iPhone 6/iPad 3 is expected to either be a significantly faster clocked version of the dual-core A5 chip, or, a quad-core mobile processor.

iPhone 6 is rumored to have an LCD display with “low-temperature polysilicon” technology allowing for a lighter, thinner phone that consumes less power than its predecessors, according to the Nikkan newspaper.

The p-Si LCD display will allow manufacturers to create “system on glass” devices in which the optical sensors, signal processing circuits and other components are located directly on the glass substrate, reported AppleInsider. This would save space inside the phone body by reducing the size of the display's thin-film transistor.

Apple’s iPhone 5 will be shipped in September for sure, according to Liu Yang, an employee in China Mobile, who has tweeted the news recently. China Mobile is likely to be the carrier in China.
